QDJM Archives: Premium Record Pool Mixtape - The First and Finest in Contemporary Urban Alternative Music mixed by Dj Qool Marv - 1995 or 1996
Early 90s, I joined the Premium Record Pool to receive a box of eclectic vinyl on a monthly basis. DJ Smash, the original resident of Giant Step, led a group of a few great people, amongst them, DJ Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy (shout out to Fred, Ivan and Asia), who got us 'other'-styled DJs choice vinyl representing the genres of Trip Hop, Acid Jazz and worldwide underground beats and musical contributions. At a time when people had their ears on music from the coasts, regions or boros, oddball me had my ear on who was making grooves with feels - who and where from irrelevant, if I felt it I funked with it.
I forgot I did this tape. Completely. A couple times a season, I check twitter for "Qool Marv" mentions (rare and few), and in March ('24) I found someone had posted an ebay link on a post that said "Rare Qool Marv Mixtape." You can see what the picture was. Now picture me trying to figure out how I forgot doing this tape?!? $15 and about a week later, I got to refresh my memory.
