Born in Tokoroa but raised in Rotorua and now living on the Gold Coast, Jasmin Maree Awhina Curtis struggled most of life with feeling like she was unworthy of being Māori. Following in the footsteps of whānau who had put the name ‘Curtis’ on the world stage meant she was expected to live up to her family name in which the expectations were unattainable. Jasmine was recently awoken by the call of her tīpuna and is now on her journey of finding who she is as a wahine Māori.
