Firstly, Happy New Year! Yes I know it's February but it's been a while since I've shared any kōrero with you.

Over the next few months, I'm going to share a mini-series with you where I share kōrero on how I've gotten to where I am today and the mana I walk in leading up to the birth of my pēpi. I will also share the journey I've gone on with my haputanga to prepare pēpi to be raised i roto i te ao Māori.

Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau but now residing in Los Angeles, California Amelia decided to use her passion and mātauranga of te ao Māori and te reo Māori to create a curriculum that teaches Māori and other indigenous cultures te reo and tikanga online. 

5 years ago Amelia started her business which is known as 'Learn Māori Abroad' in which she also teaches Kapa Haka and poi classes.

E tenei wā e kōrero tahi ana au rāua ko Kiley Nepia who is one of the founders of Hawaiki Kura which is a modern-day whare wānanga model that he runs alongside his whānau.

They began working with whānau and rangatahi within Te Tau Ihu (top of the South Island) but now also share their mātauranga and skills with the wider Te Waipounamu. Kiley shared that Hawaiki Kura came out of necessity but also their desire to want to showcase te ao Māori.

In this episode Kiley shares how Hawaiki Kura uses their matauranga and ngā taonga tuku iho to engage with rangatahi, pakeke, tāne and wāhine to reconnect or strengthen their connection to te ao Māori

As a student of Tokoroa High School Tamatea Ngapo entered the Young Enterprise competition creating his small pakihi Wai Huarere. 

His goal to teach people how to look after our wai and to understand where it comes from caused him to make contact with some of the major bottled water suppliers.

In this episode, Tamatea shares his story and dreams of how he is looking towards sharing his mātauranga on the whakapapa of the wai, expanding his pakihi while promoting the use of te reo.

Born and raised in Germany but making a home for herself in Rotorua, Imke Kauta has one of the most beautiful souls that I have ever made a connection with and our journey started well before we met physically. She is a photographer, spiritual guide, māmā and wife that is living her 100% authentic self.

Raised under the wings of her māmā in Ahuriri, Te Kahukura Boynton (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Whakatohea) is currently studying a Bachelor of Law in Hamilton while sharing beautiful gems, her knowledge and her passion around financial literacy to help Ngāi Māori become financially free.

In Year 11, Te Kahukura started the Māori Millionaire blog where she wrote little pieces about where she was saving her money, how much money she had and would calculate her net worth. At the start of 2022, she decided to take it further and now has her blog, a podcast and is also very present on all forms of social media to help others gain a better understanding of the financial world, the stock market, savings, investments and how to make your money work for you.
