The Uncle Siris Show

Episode 70 Post-Punky Brewster

Listen Later

In this weeks episode our focus once again is to share with you some audio ear candy that may have not fallen into your daily algorithm. For episode 70 I have a special guest in the studio with me , my daughter, Soso.  Her job is to help me pick out some of our favorite records from the post punk, new wave, goth rock era as well as auto-correct me on any mistakes that I may make on the air.

“These genres aren’t just music; they’re a lifestyle. They’re an attitude. They’re the soundtrack to the outsider, the dreamer, the dark-hearted and the forward-thinkers." -Soso the J

This week we drop emo butter joints from both Punk, Post Punk and New Wave acts such as Joy Division, DEVO, The Cramps, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Violent Femmes, NIN, Killing Joke, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Damned, The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Budos Band and more!
So just press play and join me and my little co-host as we embark on a journey back into time.

We audio test sounds from the post-punk, new wave, and gothic rock era that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s as reactions to the limitations and commercialism of mainstream rock and punk.

"From the early days of Joy Division’s haunting beats to the ethereal atmospheres of Siouxsie and the Banshees,

and the iconic synth hooks of bands like Depeche Mode and The Cure—this show is for those who live and breathe the rhythm of the underground sound.

If you're into introspective melancholy, driving basslines, jangly guitars, and all the magic that came from the clash of the past and future, you're in the right place."  - Emo Avi

So just press play and embark on this sonic journey thru the sounds of the new wave soundwave.

YALLA!

Live from the heart of the Galil Mountains on 105.3FM, this is more than just a radio show—it’s a sonic journey through time, culture, and sound. Hosted by a native New Yorker who cut his teeth spinning records in the city’s underground scenes of hip hop, reggae, dub, punk, and dancehall. He now has relocated to the mountains of Northern Israel to bring this knowledge of music to everyone in earshot.
We dig deep into the record crates telling the stories behind the music that shaped generations and putting some stank on it in the process. Each episode weaves a tapestry of genres, connecting the past and present like an old school cassette mixtape with special guest appearances from kindred spirits like Uncle Siris’ daughter, Soso, and the Silent Bob of of the DJ world, Mixmaster DJ Milkweed.

"Uncle Siris and his show is the most sacred thing Israel has since the Temple Mount" -Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky
“This isn’t just music radio—it’s soothing sonic soul on the airwaves” - Emanuel Lewis
"This is the greatest music variety show I have ever heard"- Helen Keller
"When I listen to show of Uncle its like to make sexy-time to my earholes" - Zohan
