This episode is a continuation of the episode on Burnout Culture. Dr. Lara discusses how our behaviors and lifestyle choices contribute to our health and wellness. We will discuss common symptoms of “empty cup” syndrome (just made that up), dietary recommendations, the “busy lifestyle”. 


What is “self-neglect”?

  1. If you are ignoring your own needs; in favor of others.
  2. If you are skipping rest, meals or a mental break.
  3. If you are constantly pleasing people at your own expense.
  4. Making yourself emotionally available for everyone, at the expense of your well-being.





What is the cost of self-neglect?

  1. You can become resentful. Who has been there for you?
  2. Feeling depressed or anxious.
  3. Burn-out - losing interest in the things you once enjoyed. Pushing through.
  4. Chronic fatigue. Illness. Weight gain.
  5. Insomnia.
  6. Loss of identity? Who am I? What have I done with my life?
  7. You can feel invisible.


Dr. Lara will discuss some ideas of why we do these behaviors that lead to “empty cup” syndrome and burnout.
