The Highbrarians

Episode 8: This Tender Land

Listen Later

Welcome to the Highbrary. We are your Highbrarians. Today we cover “This Tender Land ” by William Kent Krueger. This action/adventure novel takes place during the Great Depression and follows the Vagabonds, four orphans who take off in a canoe down the Gilead River. Along the way the kids encounter people from all walks of life who make a distinct impact on them. This prompts us to go on many tangents covering a wild array of topics; our distaste for corn on the cob, the level of disaster preparedness in our public school systems, Annie’s theory that everyone is a little bit psychic, and our shared love for sandwiches. Join us on this trip through the Highbrary where we discuss the power of family, those related by blood and those that we choose just like we choose each other and all of you. Love, Indy and Annie
