Pam Zembiec is the author of “Sellfless Beyond Service: A Story About the Husband, Son and Father Behind the Lion of Fallujah”. Her husband, Douglas Zembiec, known as The Lion of Fallujah, was killed in a secret mission. In this episode, Pam discusses the emotional trauma that spouses of fallen soldiers pass through. She discusses how grief is not linear and how it will find even the most resilient if they don’t let it out; how she went through “identity reconstruction” after her loss; and perhaps most importantly, the noble life lived by her husband, who his team said “Would follow him into battle with a spoon as long as he led the team”.
