On April 22, 2020 a female soldier, PFC Vanessa Guillen, went missing from Fort Hood in Texas. It was soon discovered that PFC Guillen had suffered sexual harassment and abuse at the hands of fellow soldiers and was on the verge of reporting the incidents when she went missing. Her family and the general public were very vocal about the lack of action on the part of the Army in regards to curbing these behaviors and the outcry brought a lot of attention to the case. On June 30th, PFC Guillen's body was located in a clandestine grave 20 miles outside the base. A fellow soldier was identified as the main suspect but he killed himself when investigators attempted to take him into custody.
