Welcome to the Love Sweetie Podcast! In this episode, Sweetie writes letters to her family in August and November 1951, and talks about her life in her new home in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. We learn that Sweetie's sister-in-law, Elizabeth, has had her third child - a baby girl, and has moved her family to Norristown, Pennsylvania. We also hear from Sweetie's father, Chester (in Lacona, Iowa), who has just returned from a trip to Chicago to see his son, Frank. Finally, we learn that Lewis, who has started school that fall, was very unwell in the beginning of November.
At the end of the episode, we review Sweetie's family tree, as well as a group photograph of all of the Graham family in the early 1950's.
Check out the website at www.lovesweetiepodcast.com for a family tree, overall timeline of her story, and information on the previous episodes to catch up as you are able to - there is something in Sweetie's story for everyone!
The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Frances Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime. These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed).
It should also be noted that the vernacular in the letters, as disclaimed at the beginning of every episode, are part of the real historic text from 1951, and do not reflect the views of anyone associated with the Podcast, including the creator and the hosts.
