Welcome to the Love Sweetie Podcast! In this episode, Sweetie writes letters to her family in November 1951. She writes first of how her son, Lewis, was very sick that fall, and then she proceeds into a long description of Lewis' experience in first grade at the Doylestown Public School. She writes of him learning to write, how his teacher (Mrs. Houk) treats him, stories she hears of what is occurring during recess, his interactions with a school bully, and his first report card. Sweetie then gives an update on her home life, and writes to her family on a variety of subjects. Finally, we end the episode with a brief note from Sweetie's father, Chester, to Sweetie's sister, Jeanne.
Note that in this episode we do review some historical information about the Doylestown Public School, which was originally built in 1899.

The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Frances Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime. These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed).
It should also be noted that the vernacular in the letters, as disclaimed at the beginning of every episode, are part of the real historic text from 1951, and do not reflect the views of anyone associated with the Podcast, including the creator and the hosts.
