Postmodernism: an influential philosophical movement with important insight on the nature of language, knowledge, culture and reality itself? Or, as some would suggest, a thinly veiled Marxist movement pushing its agenda through academia and society at large?

Controversial professor Jordan Peterson has warned of postmodern neo-Marxism: a supposed ideology influencing academics to prioritize identity politics over truth and reason. As a matter of fact, for many postmodernists, 'truth' and 'reason' are not meaningful goals to be pursued. Peterson's ideas are influenced by Stephen Hicks' and his book "Explaining Postmodernism." In it, he argues that both the radical left and the radical right share common roots in the same philosophical linneage which brought us postmodernism.

In episode XXIX, we break down postmodernism - both the ideas themselves, and their possible political undertones. We discuss the evidence, including the writings of Foucault and Derrida, to see whether there is truth to this idea of "postmodern neomarxism." And we take a look at what right-wing postmodernism might look like, and whether traces of it already exist in the alt-right, or even in the works of Peterson himself.
