How many hats can one wear and excel at all? – mother, wife, daughter, doctor and a SOLDIER. Imagine all that and being on call 24/7 serving as a lone gynecologist in a hospital overseeing 2600 deliveries a year! A life of service of our friend born to the army, a worthy daughter of a Vir Chakra (Gen DP Singh). What a gem. Thanks for your services and a big salute – Arvinder!
Nitya: mother to Manas, Padam, and Anahita, wife of Karthik, and a friend to all. A girl who thought she was floating away lost in her own dreams but found her real freedom by binding herself to her children and husband and rebuilding each other's life brick by brick. There is much to learn simply by listening to her. She lives with her family now in Pune.
Avinash Hiremath. A friend, a mentor, a force of nature, and the one I can safely say has touched many of us.
Avinash is a psychiatrist and currently the Chief Medical Officer of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. I do not think there is a podcast of any length that can do justice to capture the achievements and contributions of Avinash and I apologize for this shoddy job. His current role alone as the chief medical officer /medical director of the NHS Trust is probably worth more than a couple of hours of podcasts which I did not dwell into. A perfect balance of fun, self-reflection, and control. Here is the Zen master himself.
Sunita Patil is a professor of pathology in our own JNMC and remains one of the few links to our Alma mater. She resides in Belgaum along with her daughter Aastha. If you want to meet someone who has done it all solo and became stronger for it, you don’t have to look any further than Sunita.
Rama is a cardiologist in what many consider the “Mecca” of Cardiology – Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in namma Bengaluru. Come, let us hear from this super humble, super intelligent and down to earth classmate of ours and her exemplary achievements.
Sanjeev Katti lives in Bangalore with his wife Akshata, daughter Neha and son Atharva. Needless to say, like many of our batchmates, has a very talented family. Sanjeev works as a pathologist in Columbia asia Hospital in Bangalore and also as a locum consultant in the UK. He did his postgraduate training in Mysore Medical College and in Leeds. Sanjeev loves reading, listening to music and has taken up running and travelling as his hobbies.
Praveen Ganigi is a Neurosurgeon in Manipal Hospital, Bangalore which is home to him now along with his wife, Anita and daughter Rishita. I have known Praveen well since we met in JNMC – the very first day and have been in contact with him ever since. Today I had a fresh look at this wonderful, evolved human being and what makes him special....all heart.
Vidya Patil nee’ Tirvir is another batchmate who went through the rigors of NCC training. She is a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Mumbai and lives with her husband Rajaram Patil and Children – Adiraj who is pursuing MBBS and daughter Arya who is in 11th standard. Another admirable example of entrepreneurship and leadership.
Surabhi moved from the hustle and bustle of Delhi to small town Kota and found her peace and calling. She helps and supports thousands of students burdened by high expectations of the society and uncertainty placed on their tender shoulders by acting as their counsel, therapist and a motherly figure. Along with her husband Saket, she is a support system for her community in Kota and has impacted thousands of lives in a positive way. Her daughter, Saloni is studying Economics at Drexel University in Philadelphia and son, Sowmya is 13. It was an immense pleasure to see her represent us and contribute to the society.
