  • Let us consider some good and bad epitaphs
    • Good epitaphs
      • Dorcas – Acts 9:36-39 - “Full of good works and alms deeds”
      • Enoch – Genesis 5:22-24 - “Walked with God”
      • Noah – Genesis 6:9 - “A just man and upright in his generation … walked with God”
      • Abraham – James 2:23 - “The friend of God”
      • Apostle Paul – II Timothy 4:7 - “Fought the good fight, finished the course, kept the faith”
      • Jesus Christ
        • Hebrews 4:15 - “Was without sin”
        • Acts 10:38 - “Went about doing good”
        • Every New Testament Christian – Revelation 14:13 - “Blessed … died in the Lord … at rest from their labors.”
        • Bad epitaphs
          • Judas Iscariot – John 18:2 - “One that betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ”
          • Demas – II Timothy 4:10 - “Forsook Paul … a lower of this present world”
          • A certain rich man – Luke 12:20-21 - “Layed up treasure for self, not rich toward God”
          • Felix – Acts 24:24-25 - “A procrastinator”
          • Any unfaithful individual
            • I Timothy 1:19 - “Made shipwreck of the faith”
            • Revelation 2:4 - “Left first love”
            • I John 2:3; Revelation 22:14 - “Did not keep God’s commandments”
            • James 4:4 - “A friend of the world”
            • Matthew 10:22 - “Did not endure to the end”
            • II Peter 2:20 - “Last state worse than the first”
            • Hebrews 6:4-6 - “Impossible to renew them again unto repentance”
