Equine Bodywork is unregulated. You do not need any kind of formal training to practice.
However, if you want to set yourself apart, become a professional who is respected and called upon by peers, owners and veterinarians, you had better gain some education.
And it doesn't stop there. To really become a master at your craft, you need to continue your education all the time. Never. Stop. Learning.
This episode is going to cover how our new continuing education platforms we call PODs, are helping to further not only the individuals who are participating in them, but also the industry as a whole.

  • 014 - Baseline conditioning, no matter what your discipline
We talk today with a longtime client who has taken the concept of conditioning her horses prior to sport specific exercise, to heart. We look at her older horse as an example of what this type of conditioning program can do for an equine athlete to not only improve their current situation but also to prolong their careers.
Kaila Stewart is a Non-pro cutting horse competitor and has been in the industry for decades caring for and loping horses. She is like the majority of horse owners who love their horses and their chosen discipline but can get stuck in a rut determining how to best care for and move forward without breaking the bank!
Kaila's special horse LEO, is a prime example of an older horse, potentially no longer able to be competitive for her level, that we were able to develop a program for and bring back for the best show season of his life!
With hard work from the owner and a basic maintenance schedule Leo excelled! Learn today how that was accomplished and be prepared to fall in love with the little horse everyone thought was ready for retirement.

  • 013 - Farrier work and the link with bodywork.
As we go into the second month of isolation protocols, we wanted to bring our focus into what we can do as bodyworkers to look forward, towards when we can kickstart our practices full force once again. What better way then to start from the ground up!!
Today we talk with Matt Humpage, owner and operator of Iron Force Farrier, who works closely with Coulee Equine and a number of their rehab cases. Matt has been involved with the farrier world basically his whole life as he is a third generation farrier.
Our conversation crosses the border between farrier and bodywork worlds and reiterates the necessity to the a team approach and looking at the horse as a whole.
You can connect with Matt through his Facebook page at Iron Force Farrier as well as through Energy Equine Veterinary Services.

  • 012 - Coping with stress, for all scenarios.
While these are stressful times felt by so many concurrently, stress is something that we face throughout our lives. Especially as horse owners and caregivers, we take on both the worry for our families and ourselves but also our equine partners. As we continue into another month of dealing with the COVID 19 crisis, anxiety and stress over this situation is setting in for more and more people. The uncertainty of our times, the thought it could last for months yet, it's all hard to deal with. Today is dedicated to ways we ourselves and others in this industry have chosen to help them through stressful times. It will be relevant for what we are coping with during this crisis but also to take forward into the future when we are back in the show arena.
    Our guests today are:
Sara Vold of Arrow Equine - http://www.arrowequine.ca
Brigitte Meyer of Vitality Equine - https://www.vitalityequine.com
Becky Denny of Whispering Equine Bodyworks - https://www.whisperingequinebodyworks.com

    2- Gratitude Practice
This is an amazing exercise that I learned from my friend Sarah Mackenzie, who studied optimism. By writing down what you are grateful for, and the “WHY” behind what you are grateful for, it allows you to connect the ownership you have between all the good you have in your life and your actions…and in turn contributes to your daily, weekly, and monthly practice of optimism and gratitude.
    1. Write down one thing you are grateful for.
    2. Why did this happen?
    3. What does it mean to you?
    4. How can you have more of this in the future.
