The loss of a beloved pet: who was my pride and joy, and my only consistent companion as to my last years at University. The little friend who kept me happy and focussed on life. She was always so happy to see me, and she made University life - with its lack of money and perks outside of education - enjoyable.
She made it to four years: then her lungs filled up with fluid over two days - due to a congenital condition. I was told by the Vet: I'd have to fork out AUD$24,000 for five weeks of care, to have a 10% chance as to her surviving, and then recovering, the Vet was "more comfortable ending the suffering - because even if the money was paid, the recovery would be painful".
I was devastated.
This song arose from the next day, where I was paralysed and could only undertake activities which removed my attention from what was going on. I was oscillating between extreme grief, and moments of remembering what she meant to me, and ultimately that this was a metaphor for life, in so much as we all will die one day. So we are all ultimately reunited within death, even of only for a transcendental moment.
"Acacia" came to define the starting form of music written after this point. One could say this emotion and tragedy has become central to the creative ethos that drives the music the project currently creates.
Rest in Peace, little Nandi. You live in the music and soul of this project.

Lyrics for Acacia:
Lost in a wave of propensity, as the laws around you crumble,
With the ways you've always known to be, forsaken.
Grasp at the straws of a precedence, that we've all grown too expectant.
Will we understand it's reaching implications? Or just merely run through blind?
Mercy may it shine upon us all.
Lest anyone be spared in throes of darkness?
Mercy may it shine upon us all.
A weakness shown to nullify.
Stygian fingers reach unto our doorstep,
Cross infecting the public, condemning the earth.
Deny it, and it shall stay unchallenged.
Ignore it, and it shall froth and fester.
To error is all too common.
To fight is all but useless.
We've reached the end of what we've known to be the truth.
