I am speechless. Three years ago I knew nothing about Japanese culture or Youtube, and now I've officially signed a contract to work as an Assistant English teacher in Osaka, Japan and will be continuing to grow my small channel from Japan... WHAT!? Thank you all for your endless support, and I can't wait to utilize this opportunity in order to further improve my Japanese language skills and learn more about teaching English. 新しい人生、スタート！

It's become more and more apparent that my Japanese speaking skills far outweigh my reading/writing skills. My lack of read/write skills has caused my speaking to worsen recently as a result. The right and wrong ways of making foreign friends: this is a topic I don't see often discussed. When first pursuing a new language, or studying a new culture, it's easy to make friends from the culture solely based on your interest in their country. But is that friend really a good friend? It can be important to be aware of individuals that are happy to be ambassadors for their country, but may not actually be, by definition, a friend. Good thing to look out for!

Enjoyed a month of Winter Vacation celebrating Christmas, traveling to Boston, and celebrating New Years in New York City! Some of the best days of the trip were when I was alone. I strongly encourage solo travel to anyone, as they were some of my most enjoyable days while in NY.

To anyone considering living with a host family while living abroad in Japan (or any country), I hope that this video will help encourage you to try it. Although there are pros and cons to any living situation, overall I had a very rewarding and beneficial experience living with a Japanese family.

I've noticed lately that living in an English speaking country has been slowly effecting my Japanese study habits. No longer being completely immersed in the language has proven to be pretty tough. But I think I've found some nice ways to keep up the practice!

Japanese food, for me, is the best there is. The food is real, it's cooked fresh and the quality control absolutely trumps (heh) America's. If you get the chance, you must try Japanese food made fresh from Japan itself.
