Join Canadian Club Toronto when Bombardier’s President and CEO, Éric Martel, provides insight into the Canadian flagship’s transition to a business aviation focused company, his vision and mission for the future of this iconic brand and how Ontario plays a major role. Following Éric’s remarks, he will be joined by Deborah Flint, President and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, for a fireside conversation entitled A Partnership in Flight.

Éric Martel, President and CEO, Bombardier

A dynamic and engaging leader, Éric Martel is respected globally for his leadership and business acumen. As President and CEO of Bombardier, Mr. Martel’s extensive experience in engineering, aerospace and in global product manufacturing helps lead the international company in serving corporations, aviation charter companies and governments, enabling businesses and individuals to travel safely and efficiently. Known for developing and manufacturing their flagship Global and Challenger business jets, Bombardier’s impact on the economy cannot be understated. With 9,000 employees in Canada, the company is a major global player and contributes significantly to job creation, supply chain vibrancy and export sales. Bombardier’s leadership in sustainable aviation is also of note, with the Global 7500 being the first business jet ever to receive an environmental product declaration.

Mr. Martel has decades of experience working with some of the world’s most important corporations, and deep relationships with key stakeholders and customers. His sincere and authentic voice and thoughtful, insightful and engaging approach is appreciated by his peers. He is also a dedicated and committed leader, offering his time to numerous volunteer opportunities. He has been actively involved with Centraide of Greater Montreal for many years and served as co chair of the fundraising campaign in 2019. He’s also involved with the Montreal Mental Health University Institute Foundation and Robotique FIRST Quebec. He was named one of the five most influential people in Quebec by L’actualité in 2018.

Deborah Flint, President and CEO, Greater Toronto Airport Authority

Deborah Flint joined the Greater Toronto Airports Authority as President and Chief Executive Officer in February 2020, following more than 4 years as CEO of Los Angeles World Airports and 24 years serving in executive roles in the aviation industry.

At Los Angeles World Airports, Deborah initiated the $14 billion modernization of its terminals, runway improvements, and a comprehensive ground transportation and transit program that brings the first rail line to LAX.

At GTAA, Deborah began her leadership at the onset of the global pandemic and has led Pearson to being globally recognized and awarded for its Healthy Airport program. She has developed a new Strategic Plan for the GTAA that is framed by the North Star Statement: Pearson Strong: Creating the Airport of the Future by building our business in a Smart, Healthy, and Profitable Way.

As a recognized leader within the international and U.S. aviation community, Deborah serves as a member of the Airports Council International World board and the Airports Council International, North America board. She previously served on the U.S. DOT Drone Advisory Committee, and as Chair of the Oversight Committee of the Transportation Research Board’s Airport Cooperative Research Program. Beyond the airport industry, she has served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank and is a director of the Honeywell Corporation.
