Erick Villegas ON: The Radio Biz World and How To Get Your Foot In The Door
(Episode 6): In this episode we discuss what it takes to become and also remain a lead radio producer, what the radio business is like today and how it has changed, new opportunities for women in radio, tips for aspiring radio producers and personalities, artist promotions, the importance of networking and building a buzz, how to get your music played on radio and how Tik Tok may very well be the key ingredient for success for today's independent artists.
Erick Villegas, better known as Erick V, or Producer Erick, has an impressive record of having been the main producer for the Live broadcast radio program, The Kane Show, on iHeartMedia’s DC number 1 hit music radio station HOT 99.5... The show was named "Best Local Morning Show" in 2009 by industry magazine FMQB, and was broadcast on several additional radio stations in DC, Baltimore, Tampa and Louisville. The Kane Show was one of the most popular radio programs for the past 14 years! And recently, Erick has just launched the new "Your Morning Show", for which he is not only the lead producer, but also part of the show's main cast.
The irony is that I was Erick’s intern at iHeartMedia at the very start of my career in the entertainment industry; and about a decade later I’m here with him again, but this time as an exclusive interview for my very own Entertainment Biz Podcast. ___
