  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Eight: Moon Serpent & Bone Night Market
This months podcast is from a performance at the Moon, Serpent andamp; Bone Summer solstice night market where I provided background atmospheres.
I enjoy these longer, very ambient performances. They give me an opportunity to experiment and really get slooww.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Seven: wormlogo meets sonic hudson
Sonic Hudson returns* this time in a collabo with my wormlogo persona.
I packed up some synthesizers, donned my wormlogo hat and headed over to Sonic Hudsons studio. We made weird sounds, these are some of them. Listen loudly.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Six: The Return of Tom Law
This months podcast sees the return* of Tom Law, but with a twist!
In addition to being an experimental musician, Tom has an interest in early music and brought along his Viola da Gamba to our session. He incorporated it into his Max/MSP rig and two worlds collided (to weird effect).

We ended up with a wonderfully abstract series of soundscapes which I find very transporting. Best enjoyed in headphones, lying down in a dark room...
*Toms first appearance was podcast fifty eight.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Five: Moonbow
    [caption id=attachment_683 align=aligncenter width=604] photo courtesy sandy santra[/caption]
This months podcast is from a live performance at the Shaker Meeting House in Albany, NY in August 2021.
It was a collaborative performance with dancer Ophra Wolf that took place as the sun set. As has too often been the case with weather reliant performances, it was very cloudy and even raining a bit before we started, but we did persist and this recording is a document.
The Shaker Meeting House was a beautiful space to play in, and I hope to perform there again in the future. Also, they let me use one of their Shaker chairs - so comfortable!!

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Four: with Concetta Abbate
This months podcast features the violin and voice of Concetta Abbate.
Concetta came up to the studio from Queens, NY on a weird winter day that started sunny and devolved into icy snow squalls. The three improvisations that comprise this recording really seem to capture the feeling of that day.
Concetta Abbate is a classically trained violinist turned  improviser and composer. Grammy.com describes her original performances  as a mix of “Violin and delicate vocals that float between the worlds of  Modern Classical, Neo-Folk, and poignant and poetic verse”. She has  released three studio albums exploring art song, avant chamber music and  free improvisation.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Three: Back to Basics
This month’s podcast is a return to basics. As winter starts winding down I’m reconnecting with the electric guitar as a tone generator, and preparing for live performances again after being in studio mode and getting lost in the world of synthesizers.
I constructed this podcast from five exercises where I explored the sonic and textural palette of my guitar performance rig. It felt a bit like reconnecting with an old friend, and it was nice to be reminded of the strange world of sounds we can create together.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty Two – A Slow Start with wormlogo
We’re starting off the new year slowly with wormlogo, which is another of my musical personas. I think of wormlogo as being based around synthesizers while Errant Space is more guitar based.
I approached this podcast as I would one of my Remote Variations series; but rather than exchanging tracks with some one else, I exchanged tracks with myself. If you want to hear more of the Errant Space + wormlogo collab check out this album.

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty One: with Lucas Brode
This months podcast features guitarist Lucas Brode.
Lucas and I have know each other for a while, both of us being oddball musicians based in the Hudson Valley. Weve had a few live collabos, but Id never asked him to be on my podcast, because I tend to shy away from playing with other guitarists, perhaps out of a fear of redundancy.
However, our approaches to the instrument are very different, and Lucas is an amazing listener and improviser – I think the combo works quite well. This serves as a reminder for me to keep an open mind; the only way to know if something is going to work is to try it!

  • Errant Space Podcast Eighty: Remote Variations 7 with Pedeplei
Its time for another installment of the Remote Variations Series, this time with Pedeplei from Guadalajara, Mexico. (We were connected via our mutual friend BioMeSS.)
Pedeplei is a project of sound artist, Israel Peña who creates and manipulates sounds in real time. I think of him as a sort of experimental foley artist or field recordist, creating sounds with physical objects then processing, altering and looping them (in real time) to create strange sonic worlds.
Our collaboration produced a real aural feast; with lots of interesting textures and glitchy noises. Listen in headphones for the full effect.

  • Errant Space Podcast Seventy Nine: OCCULTS
This month’s podcast features my occasional project with Andy Rinehart, OCCULTS.
We create strange, unsettling soundscapes, in this case for Moon, Serpent and Bone’s 3rd Annual Samhain Oddities andamp; Curiosities Night Market where the performance that became this podcast was recorded.
It gets pretty spooky, so keep the lights on and prepare a change of pants...
