Maria Romanenko is a Ukrainian journalist who fled Kyiv when Russia's brutal invasion of her homeland began on February 24th 2022. She is now living in Manchester, UK and has written for outlets including the Guardian, The Daily Beast and Business Insider. Maria also helps Ukrainians in Manchester by running walking tours of the city in Ukrainian, campaigning and raising money for her country and spreading awareness.

Maria joins Nathan Eckersley to discuss one year since Russia's invasion of Ukraine and to share her story of fleeing her home.
