The Paradox here is clearly seen-Eli is a great dad to Samuel but a bad dad to Hophni & Phinehas.

He overlooked their excesses-he warned but we didn’t set up structure.

Training starts from childhood.

His sons had no fear of God.

Samuel turned out to be an amazing prophet because Eli taught him to discern the voice of God early.

Abraham comes to mind as a successful dad .

17-19 Then God said, “Shall I keep back from Abraham what I’m about to do? Abraham is going to become a large and strong nation; all the nations of the world are going to find themselves blessed through him. Yes, I’ve settled on him as the one to train his children and future family to observe God’s way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly, so that God can complete in Abraham what he promised him.”

The believer in Christ has no business with taking life lessons from the world.

Kingdom priority.Kingdom must come first.Placing other things before the Kingdom is wrong and counter productive.

The family altar is the place where we make our children.The family altar is not an old school idea that should be treated with lightly.
