The poem reiterates the need for a guide to cross the ocean of this world and reach the Ocean of Love, our real home and final destination. Somehow it's easier for us to understand our need for a guide on a safari than it is for us to grasp the need for a spiritual guide.

The purpose of esoteric teaching, in every epoch and area, is to sow the seed of truth into humanity. The purpose of this truth is to make us think differently. To raise us from a lower level to a higher level.

The poem continues with Kabir rebuking and restoring Dharam Das for his lack of faith in the Word. Dharam Das is still worried about his son, Narayan, who has rejected the path of liberation. Dharam Das and his son both represent the two main aspects of our configuration.

We've heard so much about the end of the world, the Mayan calendar, the second coming that we've lost our perspective. What's it all about? According to esoteric teaching there is some sense to be made of all this.

The poem continues to warn of the pitfalls that will befall those who seek liberation in the future. We're warned about unhealthy attachment to family and other relationships when they become dark attachments. It's the light that heals us.

Literal meaning can be a lock on the door to understanding. Wine, clothing, vineyards are all physical things that can be taken literally. There’s nothing wrong with that. If you wish to develop you must get beyond the literal to the esoteric meaning behind those things.

It's tragic how much of the esoteric literature known as the Gospels is overlooked because it's mistranslated, misunderstood and taken for granted. The parable of the man entering the wedding feast without a wedding garment has great meaning for us.

Kabir, who represents the Master Power, tells Dharam Das, who represents us, what the future will hold for his family. It becomes clear that the world has come increasingly under the power of the negative force. The web of illusions are revealed.

John the Baptist is more than just a character in a story. His meaning, esoterically, is vital to our understanding of the Truth. He represents a side of truth that can be violent and must be replaced by another.
