Summer allergies got the best of me, so forgive me if I sound very congested and hoarse. Given the state of my voice, I opted for a more low key and casual catch up episode this week. Grab a snack and hop on a "phone call" with me as I yap about my gardening thoughts, Mercury Retrograde victimizing me, content creators, some milestone / retail therapy purchases, end of summer plans, and what it's like living with a boy (ew).

The episode you've all been waiting for... let's talk modern love and relationships! We discuss the common themes in modern dating and how we have to work to unlearn and heal through our 20s and 30s. I explain why you often hear phrases like "Work on yourself" or "Don't chase, attract" or "He'll come when you're not looking" and the hard truths behind it. Then I discuss the hardships of healing in a healthy relationship when all you know is toxicity and emotional abuse. Lastly, I give you a sneak peek into what future dating-related episode topics will be on from funny stories to sexcapades to navigating a long-term partnership.

And if all of this was overwhelming or not quite there yet, as I am only 30, don't hate me. I'm just a girl!!!!!

Today's episode leading up to the July 4th weekend touches upon a few topics. First, we touch base on my opinion about what I believe is the best course of action for people with platforms during politically volatile times. I also discuss what it means to be American to me. After, we talk about the difficulties of taking the high road when people create multiple potholes for you along the way. At the end of the day, you can never expect people to perform higher than the level they show you that they're at. If someone negatively impacts your energy, you should still take the high road but learn how to gate it and maintain social courtesies.

Girls, it's our time to take over sports! 

In this episode, I dive into the power females have over sports leagues from viewership to the spending power and sponsorships we bring in from a consumer psychology standpoint. I use Formula 1, my sport of choice, as an example for how females have changed the landscape for the sport and sport revenue. It is beyond something as simple as jersey sales like Taylor Swift did for Travis Kelce because there is more to this than copying and pasting fandoms to a league when you want longevity of female viewership and spending power in your sport. It's a science, a formula if you will.

In today's episode, I discuss my mixed feelings about my beautiful city feeling a bit less united lately. From the changes I've seen since living here two summers 2015 & 2016 and moving here full time shortly after to through COVID to now, it is a little disappointing to see this place become divisive and isolated into social bubbles. New York was a place for misfits, creatives, disruptors, ambitious dreamers, and those who didn't belong anywhere who wanted to find themselves. It still is, but it seems like what is basic and popular is overwriting the local color and true meaning of what it means to be a New Yorker. From gentrification to social media to demographic shift to toxic mindsets tied with leaving NYC, I discuss a bit of everything. This city is the heart of so many industries and movements and is rich with so much history that I just want everyone who comes here to respect the communities, different cultures and people, and those who came before them.

Today we chat about my busy week/weekend and my inner child's love for carnivals before diving into the main topic: managing and respecting differences just in time for Pride. Lately, a theme across all my conversations with friends is how is it possible that I have so many friends with opposite viewpoints politically, socially, religiously, and of such different backgrounds and personalities. While that's given me a lot of anxiety in how my dear friends view my character, I decided to embrace my ability to appreciate the different flavors in friends. 

Reality is: you're never going to grow or learn unless you cast a wide net when building your foundation of knowledge. A wealthy mind is not one that closes off and doesn't listen or consider other perspectives. While I agree there are ground rules you need to set for what you're willing to accept in a friend, I talk about why I've branched out as far as I have and how we all need to be a little more respectful of differences and their sources versus thinking that someone different from you is bad. 

It do be like that sometimes, yk?

Today's episode is a fully unscripted unfiltered unedited phone call to a friend kinda chat where I sit down and just ramble about what's on my mind. I share the lore of our MDW cruise trip and then dive into deep water of my emotions lately. Life has been a weird uncomfortable limbo where a lot of things are occurring at once, nothing terrible but nothing that leaves you feeling good about anything. I walk through the types of coping mechanisms we often fall towards in moments like these and share what I'm doing to get through it - because the only way out is through. Forgive me for not sharing the exact details as a lot of things to need to stay offline. I hope you get the gist and if it made no sense, congrats you're in a stable place! LOL 

This episode is dedicated to my family, especially my parents, who I appreciate more and more every year for everything they equipped my arsenal for life with. 

Happy AAPI month! This week, we are diving into my personal experiences as a first generation female Asian American from growing up in the 90s/2000s to understanding how to break generational habits and trauma as an adult. I chat about the obstacles this specific generation of American-born Asians go through from managing expectations to teaching our elders how to be emotionally equipped and break the chain of harmful cultural beliefs. Lastly, we discuss the phenomenon of "woke" culture and how to properly navigate it as a curious outsider and as an Asian American with the capabilities to educate others.
