Whidbey Island warrants more than a day, but here are a few things to do if traveling through.  I highly recommend visiting one of the forts.

The Olympic Peninsula is huge!  It's best to pick just one or two places to base out of for a week or two just to get a good feel for it.  Go kayaking, take a scenic drive, visit the national park, take a hike, eat the oysters, and more...
