Eternal City Church Sunday Sermons

In this message, Eddie Jones shows from Colossians 2:16-23 that Jesus is the fulfillment of the entire old covenant sacrificial, dietary, cleanliness, and calender laws. They are but a shadow cast by Jesus, the substance of all these pointers to him.

In this message Paul gives warnings and gospel reassurance. He expounds on the church's position "in Christ" and the danger of moving away from the gospel as the center of life and the life of the church.

This passage of scripture is one of the highest mountain peaks in the entire new testament; Jesus is seen in all his glory and majesty. May our hearts be in awe and our sight of Jesus widen as we see a greater glimpse of his majesty.

In this message we explore the first fourteen verses of the book of Colossians. Paul introduces himself, prays for the believers at Colossae and encourages them to keep in step with the good news they first received and believed.

Ed Welch's book "Side By Side" has made a huge impact for discipleship mentoring and intentional relational soul care. In this message Eddie Jones and Vince Geramita each take on one of the two major sections of Ed's book: we are needy and we are needed.

In this message Pj Yurt explains how the memorization of scripture enables us to keep our minds and hearts focused on the "things above" and "not on earthly things." This memorizing and meditating will enable us to focus on the great commission that Jesus has called each of his people to.

We apologize for the poor recording and we are working on upgrading our sound recording system.

In this message Eddie Jones shows from the scriptures how God uses differing methods, techniques and strategies to draw people to himself for their salvation. God uses us, (Jesus' disciples) to proclaim the good news of Jesus to people. Then as they turn from sin to trust in Jesus they are saved from the penalty of their sin and begin a new life with the triune God at the center.

In this message we look at God's unique wiring of each individual for his good pleasure and purposes. God made some of us to be more social and outgoing, energized by people and crowds. God made some of us to be more quiet and reflective, drained by people and crowds. Whatever our makeup, God wants us to operate within our unique makeup dependent on him to make disciple making disciples.

We often complicate discipleship to a level of paralyzing ourselves. We don't even attempt to obey Jesus' great commission because we think we can't do what discipleship may not actually be. In this message we learn how to think differently about discipleship and how to simply engage others for their spiritual good.

God's word (the Bible) is where we find the truth about our physical earthly reality and the unseen spiritual reality all around us. The Bible is where we see the clear truth about God, who lovingly revealed himself to us in this great book. This Bible is THE main text we use for all our discipleship efforts. We must know what the Bible claims for itself and what Jesus thought of his Bible the old testament, as this and the new testament is what Jesus has told us is the very words of God.
