TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Indeed we are in the world but not of the world. Hence, our life on earth must be lived in view of eternity as our ultimate end. Nevertheless, this does not call for passivity of Christians in the affairs of the world. In fact, on the contrary, living in view of eternity demands of us to be actively involved in the affairs of the world with a view to directing the affairs of the world in the light of God's will and making the reign of God present in our world. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus Christ, was the first to share in the suffering of Jesus Christ as predicted by the priest and prophet Simeon at the presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ in the temple. She shared in the sufferings of and cared for Jesus until His death that at His death on the Cross Jesus gave us through the apostle John the beloved her Blessed Mother to be our Mother also to love and care for her. On the Cross our condemnation and death were cancelled out, our debt was paid, victory was won for us over Satan, sin, shame, darkness and all forms of evil, we are made adopted children of God through Jesus Christ and given full access to God's blessings.
