In this episode of Eternally Amy, the focus is on Step 3 of the 12-step recovery program, which involves making a decision to turn one's will and life over to the care of a higher power. Building off of Step 2, which involves coming to believe in a power greater than oneself, the discussion centers on the key of willingness and how it can be a challenge to get out of one's own way and let God handle things. Amy welcomes new friend Jordan P. Barnes to discuss his memoir "One Hit Away: A Memoir of Recovery"

Jordan discusses his personal journey with addiction and recovery with host Amy Liz Harrison. Jordan grew up in Hawaii with loving and supportive parents, but still faced addiction issues and difficulties from an early age. He talks about how drinking heavily in college led him to try heroin for the first time and how he felt isolated and lost in his addiction.

Jordan shares more about the tough parts of detox and treatment and how it works for some people. Jordan and Amy also talk about the importance of needle exchange programs, NARCAN, and harm reduction in the recovery process, emphasizing how these measures can save lives and help those struggling with addiction.

Amy welcomes friend and Executive Pastor, Matt Woll!  With over 2 decades in church leadership, Matt shares more with Amy on the idea of deconstruction of faith and what it means. With people's changing perceptions and relationships with the church, navigating this process can be tricky.  Like tearing down an old house and sitting in the rubble as opposed to building something new, Deconstruction can be a very painful process for those who don't have any plans for a reconstruction.
