John begins with a description of Jesus in terms of his divine nature. He is life, he is light, and he is love. He allows us to have fellowship with God the Father through him. We complete God’s love as we have fellowship with one another in love. Fellowship with God through Christ brings joy as we center our hearts on him.

A lesson of repentance, reconciliation, forgiveness, salvation, and most important- love.

We see a powerful lesson in being reconciled to God, as Jonah gives God’s word to the Ninevehites, and they humbly repented from their evil ways.

A national revival. The people of Nineveh repent.

Salvation belongs to the Lord

Jonah is swallowed by the great fish. An Old Testament story of repentance, resurrection and salvation.

Jonah is confronted with his own rejection of God’s request for compassion on Nineveh. He is thrown overboard, and now he prays for God’s compassion.

Jonah tries to run from the very thing he needs the most, God’s presence.

God asks Jonah to “arise and go” - to share is word, his presence and compassion with those in Nineveh. It was an uncomfortable request. Instead Jonah ran the other way.
