In last week's message by Pastor Jill St. John, we learned that, just like broken bones heal, God's intention is always to grow us back stronger after we are shattered than we were when before catastrophic event happened. In this final message of our "Picking Up the Pieces" series, Pastor Jason shares what it looks like to be restored by God after a major wounding has occurred.

Healing is a process, and we realize that all of the hurts in our lives can't be patched up during a four week sermon series. We have talked about what to do immediately after our lives are shattered, how to start picking up the pieces, and this week Pastor Jill St. John shares about an important step we must take in order to move on to complete healing: we must surrender. Sometimes we have to realize the dangers of holding on to our hurts for too long or carrying resentment towards others, and we have to surrender these things to God and allow Him to do what He is so good at-making what was meant for evil into something good.

When our lives are shattered, it may seem easier or more desirable to get as far away from the destruction as possible. We do this in a variety of ways, but the truth is, this behavior isn't healthy and won't bring us true healing. God's plan has always been to repair what is broken in our lives, and we can do this through His strength. In this second week of our "Picking up the Pieces"series, Pastor Jason shares a few biblically based steps for us to take towards gathering the broken pieces of our lives and taking steps towards a new wholeness.

Not one of us is invincible when it comes to the trials, suffering, and pain that comes from living life on this earth, but we do have the the choice to handle these inevitable hardships in a healthy, God-honoring way, or to allow our past hurts to fester long into the future. While these two words may not be some of your favorites, the amazing thing about training and discipline is the fact that it is all a part of preparing us for something bigger and better in life. Do you follow Him when everyone else is doing the same? Our faith is about more than just being a fan of Jesus. We must be committed follows and be on the team for good.
