For anyone who is recovering, whether it’s from emotional trauma, addictions (drugs or alcohol) or compulsions (shopping, gambling or eating), we are all dealing not with diseases but with the consequences of the choices we’ve made. While many of those choices may have been dysfunctional, true recovery lies in the continual understanding of the reasons behind those choices. There is no secret formula, no cut and dry, one size fits all formula, we have to find out what fits us.
