The conversion of Paul and a refining of our understanding of the gospel -including justification and righteousness- is our focus as we continue to build our understanding of Paul's purpose for the book of Romans--to unite God's people in their common joy over the righteousness of God applied to them.

Romans gives believers and unbelievers the good news that the good news is for them. Every heart runs on a gospel--something great keeps us going. In Romans, the good news is great news--that Christ gives us his right standing before the Father and we give him our sin. This one truth unified a divided church and still does so today.

Acts 2 has perplexed those who wish to apply it to the modern church. But after understanding the Old Testament background of the events of Pentecost, then we are free to apply the principles to the local church, especially those going through great transitions and growth like ECC.
