Before we begin a series in the Gospel of Mark this summer, we go back to the Old Testament prophet Isaiah, who experienced the life-changing holiness of God, as well as his healing grace. God's holiness and grace are at work in your lives as well, changing our complacency into purpose.

3] And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (ESV)

As we end John’s first letter, the Apostle circles back to the theme of certainty - the certainty of his witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the certainty that we have life in Jesus. Join us as John takes us from being “pretty sure” to being “certain” about the life we have in Christ.

Love your family. That's one of the primary messages of 1st John. Do you love God? Then you will love His children. Are you born of God? Then you will love the other's who are born of God.

How do we know if we're loving our brothers and sisters in the church? The haunting answer from John is this: When we obey God's commandments. The one who honestly considers this will despair. Love of God and love of Church are inseparable and have we loved the Church? Yes, in a weak way. Yes, in a selfish way. Yes, in an incomplete way. This will always call us to call out to God for mercy as we strive to love each other even in our brokenness.
