For All Saints Day, we focus on the reality of the Church.  The Church exists in two realities which can hardly be any different.  First there is the church militant, where the church on earth strives through suffering and persecutions.  Second, there is the church triumphant which celebrates at rest in the presence of God.  We see ourselves in both of these pictures.  Now we march.  Then we rejoice.

In this episode, we continue the theme of Reformation by exploring some of the differences between Roman Catholicism and Lutheranism on the topics of the Pope and Purgatory. It's not all critique - we offer some thoughts on what we appreciate about this branch of the Christian church as well. Fun times!

This reformation we look closely at Psalm 46.  This Psalm proclaims to us that God is our fortress.   When all other things fall.  When the Earth melts and the sea roar, when everything we thought we could count on crumble, we have a sure and steady shelter.  The God who can melt the earth with his voice, or shatter the wars of our world, He is with us.  He surrounds us like a fortress where we peacefully prosper by his nourishment.  Therefore we don't have to be afraid.  Come take refuge in God through the kind invitation of His Son Jesus Christ.

In the final sermon of our Saved to Serve Series, we take a look at how we are saved to serve as citizens. As Christians, we hold dual citizenship. We are eternal citizens of God's kingdom. We are also temporary citizens of this nation. We are called to keep these citizenships in tension, never worshiping this nation or our citizenship, but also never neglecting the responsibilities that come with our temporary American citizenship. Join us as we see what God's word has to say about keeping our dual citizenship in tension! 

On this episode, Pastor John and Pastor Tim discuss important questions such as... is there a difference between sweet potatoes and yams? And how can I have a more robust prayer life? What are some strategies we can employ to be more faithful in prayer?

The chief reason that we serve our neighbors in this life is to love them as God has loved us.  As we love them, we will want to share the Ultimate Love with them as well - Jesus.  We must always be praying for, and seeking the good of our neighbors, so that ultimately God might open a door to share the hope of eternal life that we have in Christ Jesus.
