In this last part of The Way of the Wilderness, we look at Jesus’ encounter of the wilderness. Luke tells us Jesus was led into the Wilderness by the Holy Spirit: Why? What happened there? And what does this have to do with us?

In the Biblical account, it was not only the nation of Israel that learned invaluable lessons in the wilderness. This week we look at the work God did in the life of John the Baptist as he willingly entered into the seclusion of the wilderness. What did he learn there and how can we likewise learn during our season of wilderness?

In times of disruption and transition we may long for certainty. But in the absence of certainty, we need clarity – a divine perspective on how to see and interpret things. In today’s message, we see the wisdom and grace of God towards Elijah as he struggles with his own distorted views of God, himself and his life circumstances.

We begin a new series by looking at how God uses the way of the wilderness to do some of his deepest work in us. The wilderness metaphorically speaks of those times that are uncomfortable, we feel tested to our limits and not in control of all that’s happening to us. So what’s the point of the wilderness?
