Every Womyn and Her Dog – Episode 10

The space between who you were and who you're becoming

There is a space in personal growth that we don't always talk about.

The old way no longer quite fits.

You know differently. You want differently. Perhaps you're even beginning to choose differently.

But the woman you're becoming doesn't feel completely natural yet either.

This is the space of being and becoming.

    The in-between.

The place where familiar identities, roles, relationships and patterns begin to loosen, but whatever comes next has not yet fully taken shape.

And that space can be uncomfortable.

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, Jo and Katelyn explore what happens when growth moves beyond the realisation and into the lived experience of actually doing things differently.

We unpack why identity can feel so safe, even when it limits us, and the difference between “this is who I am” and “this is who I have learned to be.”

We talk about the grief that can accompany becoming, particularly when an old version of ourselves once protected us, served us or helped us survive, and we explore what happens when our growth begins changing the relationships around us.

Because when we become more vocal, establish new boundaries or stop automatically playing the role we've always played, the people who knew the previous version of us may need time to adjust too.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why our identities can feel safe, even when they are limiting us
    • “This is just who I am” versus “this is who I have learned to be”
    • The discomfort of leaving the known before the new feels familiar
    • Why growth and grief can exist at the same time
    • Honouring the woman you have been without needing to remain her
    • What happens when other people prefer the old version of you
    • Why new boundaries can initially feel uncomfortable or “wrong”
    • The difference between intellectually knowing something and embodying it
    • Why returning to an old pattern does not erase your growth
    • What progress can look like when we stop measuring it by perfection
    • Learning to allow uncertainty while something new is still taking shape

    A question to sit with:

Where in your life does the old way no longer fit, even though the new way still feels unfamiliar?

    And perhaps alongside that:

What would happen if unfamiliar didn't automatically mean wrong?

Every Womyn and Her Dog – Episode 9

New Beginnings — Courage and the Path of Least Resistance

What if a new beginning doesn’t start with a decision?

Sometimes change begins long before we can name it, as discomfort, restlessness, curiosity, a recurring thought, or the quiet sense that something in our lives no longer fits.

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, Jo and Katelyn explore what it means to recognise those early invitations for change and follow the path that is beginning to open.

Jo unpacks the path of least resistance, not as choosing what is easiest or avoiding discomfort, but as learning to recognise the difference between forcing a direction because it seems logical or expected, and moving towards what feels genuinely aligned.

Together, they explore the uncomfortable space between what was and what comes next, the role of intuition and discernment, and what the natural world and women’s cyclical nature can teach us about endings, beginnings and everything in between.

They also reflect on their own intentional break from the podcast, a decision that initially supported what was happening within the business, but ultimately created space for what was unfolding in their personal lives as well.

    In this episode:

    • When a new beginning actually begins
    • The subtle signs that change may already be unfolding
    • Why the in-between can feel so uncomfortable
    • What the path of least resistance really means
    • The difference between alignment and avoidance
    • Learning to recognise the body’s feedback
    • What cyclical wisdom teaches us about change
    • Discernment and choosing which “seeds” are truly ours
    • Why readiness and fear can exist at the same time
    • When doing less may actually be the next step
    • Beginning again without rejecting the woman you have already been

    A question to sit with:

Where am I using force because I do not yet trust what is unfolding?

You don’t need to have the entire next chapter mapped out before you begin.

Sometimes the invitation is simply to notice what is arising, follow the thread, and allow the next step to reveal itself.

Every Womyn and Her Dog – Episode 8

    Menopause - The hidden invitation

We’ve taught women what menopause can do to their bodies.

But have we taught them what menopause may be asking of their lives?

In this episode of Every Womyn and Her Dog, Joanne Lea is joined by Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor and special guest Sandra Stack, creator of Sh!ft-ology, author of This Is Your Shift, and Inner Mastery Coach.

Together, they bring three different perspectives to the conversation: Katelyn as a woman who has not yet reached this threshold, Jo as she navigates perimenopause, and Sandra as a woman who has crossed through menopause herself.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, this conversation explores menopause as a threshold, a rite of passage and an invitation into a different way of living.

They discuss why women are often taught to manage menopause rather than consciously meet it, what may be unfolding beneath the physical changes, and how this transition can reshape identity, priorities, boundaries, purpose and self-trust.

    In this episode, we explore:

    •  What is missing from mainstream conversations about menopause
    •  Why menopause can be understood as a threshold or initiation
    •  The difference between managing symptoms and meeting the deeper transition
    •  Why younger women may benefit from learning about menopause long before it begins
    •  How modern culture has lost much of its education around women’s rites of passage
    •  The identity shifts that can accompany perimenopause and menopause
    •  How women can move with this transition rather than only resist it
    •  The importance of spaces that support reflection, connection and conscious change

This episode is not anti-medical and does not dismiss the physical realities of menopause.

    Support the symptoms.

    Seek the care you need.

And perhaps, don’t miss the significance of the transition itself.

Every Womyn and Her Dog – Episode 7

    Information Isn't Transformation

    You know the pattern.

    You've read the books.
    Listened to the podcasts.
    Attended the workshops.

You understand what needs to change.

So why does life still look the same?

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, we unpack one of the biggest misconceptions in personal growth: the belief that more information creates transformation.

    Because awareness is powerful.

    But awareness alone isn't enough.

    In This Episode, We Explore:

Why information alone doesn't create lasting change

    •  The difference between understanding, knowing, and embodiment
    • Why so many women know exactly what they need to do—but still don't do it
    • The hidden gap between awareness and transformation
    • Why personal growth can become another form of consumption
    • How to recognise when you're learning versus simply collecting information
    • The three levels of learning and why most people get stuck in the middle
    • The role of repetition, integration, and practice in creating chang
    •  The four stages of The Rose Way and how they support transformation
    • How to recognise when deeper shifts are occurring, even when progress feels slow
    • Why spaces like And She Rose focus on embodiment rather than information alone

    Key Takeaways

    • Awareness is the beginning of change, not the completion of it
    • Information becomes transformation through integration and embodied action
    • Personal growth isn't about collecting more knowledge—it's about applying what you already know
    • Lasting change happens through repetition, practice, and lived experience
    • The goal isn't to know more. The goal is to become more.

  • Coping Isn’t Thriving, It’s Surviving

    Send us Fan Mail

Every Womyn and Her Dog – Episode 6

So many women have become experts at coping.

    Holding everything together.
     Managing everyone else.
     Pushing through exhaustion.
Functioning on autopilot while quietly feeling disconnected from themselves.

And because they’re still “doing life,” no one realises they’re surviving.

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, we unpack the difference between coping and truly thriving — and why so many women normalise survival mode without even realising it.

Joined by Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor this conversation explores the hidden emotional load women carry, the conditioning that keeps them stuck in over-functioning, and what begins to shift when a woman decides she wants more than just “getting through.”

    Together, we explore:

    • The hidden signs a woman is surviving rather than thriving
    • Why coping is often praised and normalised in women
    • The emotional, mental, and physical impact of living in survival mode
    • How conditioning, roles, expectations, and life experiences shape coping patterns
    • The disconnect many women feel from themselves, their needs, and their desires
    • What starts to shift when a woman stops settling for survival
    • Why thriving isn’t about perfection — but reconnection
    • The discomfort and identity shifts that can come with choosing more for yourself

This conversation is for the woman who quietly feels exhausted by constantly “holding it all together.”

The woman who looks functional on the outside… but internally feels flat, disconnected, overwhelmed, or like she’s simply existing.

Because maybe coping was never meant to become your permanent way of life.

And maybe there’s more available for you than just surviving.

  • It's not 'selfish' to want more

    Send us Fan Mail

Why does wanting more feel so uncomfortable for so many women?

    More fulfilment.
    More alignment.
    More depth.
More from life, relationships, work, motherhood, purpose… and self.

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, we unpack the conditioning many women carry around desire, ambition, needs, and expansion — and why wanting more is so often mistaken for selfishness.

I’m joined by Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor and special guest Belinda Dykes for a grounded, honest (and deep dive) conversation around the tension women often feel between gratitude and growth… contentment and longing… caring for others and honouring themselves.

    Together, we explore:

-Why women are often taught to minimise their needs and desires

-The difference between being selfish and being healthily self-focused

-Scarcity thinking and the belief that there’s “not enough” to go around

-What begins to shift when a woman allows herself to want more

-The discomfort, guilt, resistance, and identity changes that can surface during growth

-What it means to honour your desires instead of suppressing them

-How wanting more may actually be a signal — not a flaw

This conversation is for the woman who quietly feels:
“There has to be more than this…”

Not because her life is bad, but because something deeper inside her is asking to be acknowledged.

And maybe the real work isn’t learning how to silence that desire… but learning how to trust it.

About Our Guest — Belinda Dykes

With over three decades of experience across culinary, catering, and training roles, Belinda brings a rich depth of wisdom shaped by hospitality, connection, and care.

At the heart of her work is the belief that food is far more than nourishment — it is community, celebration, generosity, and human connection. Her grounded presence and genuine love of people bring warmth and insight to this conversation.

Self Love — Why It’s Confronting

Self love gets spoken about constantly… but what happens when it doesn’t actually land?

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, we unpack what self love really is — beyond the surface-level rituals, affirmations, and quick fixes.

Because on paper, it’s about being kinder to yourself.
But in reality… it often asks you to face parts of yourself you’ve been avoiding.

    In This Episode, We Explore:

    • What self love actually is — and why it often feels vague or out of reach
    • The difference between performing self love and living it
    • The patterns, beliefs, and experiences sitting underneath self-disconnection
    • What shifts when self love genuinely starts to land
    • How decisions, boundaries, and identity begin to change
    • Why self love isn’t something you think your way into — but move through
    • The role of environments and spaces in supporting deeper self-connection

    Key Takeaways

    • Self love isn’t surface-level — it requires honesty and self-responsibility
    • You can’t mindset your way into self love — it’s something you experience and embody
    • Feeling disconnected doesn’t mean you’re failing — it means there’s something deeper to explore
    • The discomfort is often part of the process — not a sign you’re doing it wrong
    • Real self love changes how you live, not just how you think

  • The Cycle within the Cycle

    Send us Fan Mail

Episode 2 – The Cycle Within the Cycle

Women’s cyclical nature — beyond menstruation. Energy, seasons, and phases of becoming.

In this episode of Every Womyn & Her Dog, Jo is joined by Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor for a deeper conversation about something that quietly shapes the way women experience life — our cyclical nature.

While many people reduce female cycles to menstruation, this conversation explores something much broader: the energetic and identity cycles women move through across their lives.

From the archetypal seasons of Maiden, Mother, Maga, and Crone, to the expansion and contraction that appears in business, relationships, identity, and personal growth, women are constantly evolving through seasons of becoming.

But modern culture still expects us to operate like machines — consistent, productive, and always moving forward.

So what happens when women ignore the season they’re in?

Jo and Katelyn unpack the pressure to stay in “summer energy,” the cost of resisting natural cycles, and how learning to recognise your current season can bring a deeper sense of alignment, clarity, and self-trust.

This episode is a powerful reminder that women are not inconsistent, we are cyclical.

    In This Episode We Explore

    • What Jo means by “the cycle within the cycle”
    • The archetypal seasons of Maiden, Mother, Maga, and Crone
    • Why women are conditioned to value constant productivity
    • The cultural pressure to remain in “summer energy” year-round
    • How burnout can be a signal that we are resisting a natural season
    • Expansion vs contraction in business, relationships, and identity
    • The power of recognising when a season in your life is changing

Welcome to the very first episode of Every Womyn and Her Dog.

Today, Jo is joined by Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor, Kristy Lees, and Carissa Skrinnikoff to unpack a phrase we hear constantly:

“You need to do the work.”

But what does that actually mean?

Is it therapy? Journaling? Awareness? Accountability?
     Or something deeper?

This conversation is real, reflective, and at times… a little calling-ourselves-out. Because that’s often where the growth lives.

🐾 Meet the Womyin in the Room

Your Host, Joanne Lea — Women’s change maker, coach, therapist facilitator, and founder of many programs such as And She Rose and And She Thrives. Jo creates grounded, intelligent spaces for women to unpack identity, conditioning, cycles, leadership, reclaim feminine knowledge and the woman behind the role.

Her work blends therapeutic tools & coaching, intuition development, deep reflection and therapeutic tools with lived integration, supporting women to move from awareness into embodied self-leadership.

Katelyn Dwyer-Taylor — Founder of Taylor Made Digital Support, mum of two girls, and the behind-the-scenes support helping bring Joanne Lea’s work to life.

Kristy Lees — Marketing strategist at Think Social Marketing Agency, business owner, and mum of two boys navigating growth in business and life.

Carissa Skrinnikoff — Co Founder of Gorilla Energy, mum of four, leading in business and at home while navigating ambition and the juggle of both.

(Fun fact — Carissa is also the reason this podcast has its name after once saying “every woman and her dog needs Jo.” And we ran with it.)

This episode explores awareness vs integration, growth without shame, and what “doing the work” really looks like in real life.

Pull up a chair. Bring your tea. Let’s get into it. 🐾
