Everyday Church Sunday Messages

In an age where all sorts of people are vying for our attention, offering little of substance in return for our loyalty, Jesus of Nazareth stands alone as the one who can offer us life in all its fullness. Giving us a method of following him that is just as transformational today as it was for his first apprentices 2,000 years ago, Jesus begins by inviting us to simply be with him—to learn to value and enjoy his presence both in our individual lives and as we gather together.

We live in a quick-fix world where many people struggle to commit to relationships for the long haul and the local church is no different. But if we learn to embrace God's design for the church as a spiritual family we will experience incredible benefits.

Christmas is "good news of great joy," but all too often we don't experience that joy in our everyday lives. As we look at the Christmas story in Luke 2, discover how we can both protect and increase our joy by treasuring and pondering God's goodness in our lives just like Mary did.

There's a lot that goes into making Christmas the "most wonderful time of the year". Decorations and parties and gifts and food and movies... the list goes on and on. Why does a season of supposed peace cause us so much exhaustion and anxiety? And more importantly, how can we rediscover the peace of God in the midst of our busy lives all year round? The answer lies in rediscovering the practice of solitude and silence...

Like the Christmas story, all hope begins in the place of pain and disillusionment. But if we can fix our eyes on a good God, trust his plans for our lives and our world, and invite the Holy Spirit to be our journeying companion through the process, hope will never fail us.

Statistics tell us that the Church in the West is in an irreversible decline without the intervention of a God who brings dead things back to life. Starting with the foundation of the first mention of prayer in scripture from Genesis 4:26, Rich Kirby explores how we must call on the name of the LORD to fulfill his unchanging promises in our day and build a church dependent on a move of God.
