Evolutionists pretend their theory can answer all objections, but as interim director of content Shafer Parker points out, a surprising number of mathematicians are raising objections that are currently rocking the insular world of secular science. Building his thesis on an article by mathematician Granville Sewell, Parker argues that it isn't evolution alone that has no explanation for human consciousness, neither does any other non-biblical thought system.
A huge hit in the 1960s, the movie "Alfie" poignantly questions the meaning of life, but never attempts to give an answer. Now, FBB associate speaker Ian McKerracher provides a mind-blowing response. Shafer Parker writes how fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy often remain unaware that he started writing a sequel he called The New Shadow. Tolkien gave up the idea after eight pages, but even in that brief effort, he succeeded in powerfully describing the spiritual malaise that afflicts generations that have never paid a price for the freedom and prosperity they enjoy. In doing so he well describes, whether wittingly or unwittingly, the prevailing moral and political climate in Canada and the United States. He also briefly explains the duty of those who remember what is eternally true.
The new Elvis bio-pic, released in theatres June 24, promises to keep "The King of Rock and Roll" in the public's consciousness for weeks to come. No doubt the troubadour from Tupelo remains one of the world's most influential musicians, even 45 years after his death, but should God's people be influenced by his "wisdom?" In his latest blog post, FBB speaker Jon Rendall says, "No," and gives reasons.
Calgary author and educator Laura Swart talks to FBB Content Director Shafer Parker about her recent experience managing a distribution facility for Samaritan's Purse in Ukraine. She describes the hope and struggle of the Christians and pastors she met who continue to serve Christ in a time of war and deprivation.
