What happens when your circumstances challenge everything you thought you believed about God?
A crisis of belief can begin with loss, disappointment, unanswered questions, church hurt, or simply discovering that something you once believed may not be as certain as you thought. And when those questions surface, it can be tempting to wonder whether your faith can withstand them.
In John 16, Jesus prepares His disciples for their own crisis of belief. They’re about to experience sorrow, confusion, separation, and circumstances that seem to contradict everything they believe about Him. Yet Jesus doesn’t promise them a life without trouble. Instead, He points them toward the Holy Spirit, reminds them of the Father’s deep love, and promises a peace the circumstances around them cannot provide.

Have you ever wondered whether the uncomfortable pruning seasons of your life might actually be preparing you for greater spiritual growth?
In John 15, Jesus gives us a powerful picture of what it means to live connected to Him: He is the vine, and we are the branches. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit when separated from its vine, the love, joy, peace, patience, and other fruit God desires in our lives aren't things we can manufacture through effort alone.
In this episode, Betsy explores Jesus' words about abiding, pruning, obedience, and what it means to live in a lasting “life union” with Him. You'll discover how even painful seasons of pruning can remove what is hindering your growth and create room for God to produce something new.

Have you ever wondered why some conversations linger long after the meal ends? Those extra moments around the table often reveal the most profound truths and meaningful connections. In this episode of Moments to Ponder, we explore Jesus's final teachings to His disciples during their last meal together—a conversation filled with promises that still resonate powerfully today.
What if the peace, strength, and guidance you’re searching for are already available to you through the Holy Spirit?
In John 14, Jesus knows His time with the disciples is growing short. As they linger together after the Passover meal, He prepares them for what’s coming with promises they—and we—will desperately need. He speaks about prayer, obedience, the coming Holy Spirit, and a supernatural peace the world simply cannot provide.
Those promises weren’t only meant to comfort the disciples around that table. They remind us today that following Jesus doesn’t mean navigating life on our own. The Holy Spirit is present within us to comfort, counsel, strengthen, teach, remind, and guide us as we learn to live from our love for Jesus.

Is believing Jesus is the only way to God narrow-minded—or could we be missing what He was really saying?
In John 13 and 14, Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure with words they don’t fully understand yet. In the middle of their confusion, He gives them something solid to hold onto: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Those words can feel especially challenging in a culture that encourages us to believe everyone can create their own truth and find their own way.
In this episode, Betsy explores what Jesus’ words meant to His disciples—and what they mean for us today. Knowing Jesus as the way isn’t simply about declaring what we believe; it should transform how we live and, especially, how we love.

Have you ever considered that the task you think is beneath you might be the very place Jesus is calling you to serve?
In John 13, Jesus does something His disciples never expected: He gets up from the Passover table, wraps a towel around His waist, and washes their feet. He serves Peter, who struggles to receive His care, and even Judas, whom Jesus knows will soon betray Him. In this episode, we explore what this intimate moment reveals about humility, pride, receiving from others, and loving people the way Jesus did.

What happens when Jesus doesn’t look—or act—like the Savior you expected?
On Palm Sunday, crowds welcomed Jesus as King, waving palm branches and crying, “Hosanna!” But their expectations of what Jesus had come to do were very different from His actual mission. And when He didn’t fulfill their agenda, their enthusiasm quickly changed.
In this episode, explore the deeper context surrounding Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem and His final public teachings in John 12. As you consider the contrast between Rome’s display of power and Jesus quietly riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, you’ll be challenged to examine what following Jesus really looks like when His plans don’t match your own.

When people spend time with you, can they tell that you’ve been with Jesus?
Mary’s extravagant act of pouring expensive perfume over Jesus filled an entire room with its fragrance—but her worship points to something much bigger. As followers of Jesus, our lives can carry His “fragrance” into every room we enter.
In this episode, Betsy explores John 11–12 and the growing tension surrounding Jesus as He approaches the final days before His crucifixion. Through Lazarus’ living testimony and Mary’s sacrificial worship, we’re invited to consider what our own lives communicate about the One we follow.

Have you ever prayed and prayed, only to wonder why God seems to be making you wait?
Waiting can challenge our faith—especially when we know God could change our circumstances in an instant. When answers don’t come when we expect them, it’s easy to wonder whether God is listening, whether we misunderstood Him, or whether the opportunity for an answer has already passed.
In this episode, Betsy explores John 11 and the powerful story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Jesus loved this family deeply, yet instead of immediately responding to their need, He waited. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been in the grave for four days. What looked like a devastating delay, however, became an opportunity for Jesus to reveal His power and God’s glory in a way no one present could deny.
As we look more closely at this familiar story, we discover what it can teach us about our own seasons of waiting and the challenge of continuing to believe when God’s timing doesn’t match ours.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
Play this episode to discover how the story of Lazarus can help you trust that God is still present, still working, and still worthy of your belief—even when you’re waiting for an answer.

What if the peace you’re searching for doesn’t come from having all the answers—but from knowing whose hands you’re in?
With so many voices telling us what to believe, it’s easy to become anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of what’s true. In John 10, Jesus responds to people demanding that He tell them plainly who He is. His answer reveals not only His identity, but an extraordinary promise for everyone who chooses to follow Him: His sheep know His voice, receive eternal life, and cannot be snatched from His hand.
In this episode, Betsy explores Jesus’ words during Hanukkah, the evidence He had already given about His identity, and what His promise as the Good Shepherd means for us today.

Have the noise and competing voices around you made it harder to recognize the voice of Jesus?
Jesus says His sheep know His voice and follow Him—but learning to recognize that voice requires closeness, time, and a willingness to listen. In John 10, Jesus describes Himself as both the gate and the Good Shepherd, revealing a beautiful picture of a Savior who knows His sheep personally, protects them, leads them, and willingly gives His life for them.
In this episode, Betsy explores what it means to know the voice of Jesus and why the people surrounding Him struggled to recognize the Messiah standing right in front of them. Through the imagery of the shepherd and a powerful story about music that seemed impossible to play, you'll be invited to consider whether you're truly hearing the Shepherd's voice—and allowing His love to be lived out through your own life.
