In a world shaped by autonomy, preference, and endless competing voices, it is easy to come to the Bible looking for confirmation instead of correction. Paul reminds Timothy that Scripture is not discovered in isolation, but received in the community of faith, and that it stands apart because it alone is God-breathed. Holy Week is the most important week of the year for Christians. On Palm Sunday we remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem to a joyous parade. Days later he is escorted out of Jerusalem carrying a cross. One week later, Jesus again enters Jerusalem, not as the coming king, but as the risen Christ. It's a wild week!

Today we will study the confusion of Jesus's disciples. Even though Jesus told them many times that he was going to be betrayed and die and rise again, they didn't get it. They were clueless. The good news is that their confusion didn't stop God's plan!

Today we will study the 6 people Jesus met on his way to the cross. By studying their reactions we can view our own responses to Jesus and find hope in the surprising faith of a dying criminal. 

A lot of us say heaven is our hope, but if we’re honest, the version we imagine doesn’t sound all that hopeful. Clouds, harps, and vague spiritual existence don’t exactly make us long for eternity. But Paul offers something far richer. In 1 Corinthians 15, he describes a future where death is defeated, our bodies are raised, and all things are made new in the presence of God. That kind of future doesn’t just comfort us at the end of life. It gives strength, purpose, and steadiness right now.

We would all prefer to keep death at a distance. While it affects everyone we know, including us, we'd rather not talk about it, think about it or experience its pain.  And yet the Bible speaks of death, often calling it a curse and an enemy.

For thousands of years Christians have had a unique view of death. We see death from the vantage point of Christ's life, death and resurrection. We face death with hope - and that has allowed Christians to suffer with strength and witness to those longing for hope.

This Lent season, we will approach the good news of Easter by facing death together. Today's teaching explores our powerful juxtaposition of physical death and spiritual resurrection. We will study 2 Corinthians 4, reflect on our physical limits and God's grace.
