The willingness of some to participate in pagan celebrations reveals a complacency that is dangerous spiritually. Paul returns to the Corinthian slogan: “everything is lawful” (v. 23). Once again, he challenges them to see that they have a truncated view of Christian freedom. Paul highlights two principles: 1) flee idolatry, and 2) pursue God’s glory.
