In this episode, I want to explore with you what it means to know Jesus and what having a relationship with Him is about. We'll dive into four aspects of what it means to know Jesus and how knowing Him impacts our lives: be saved by Jesus, walk in relationship with Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and spend eternity with Jesus.

Throughout my life, learning to navigate being passionate about both arts/entertainment and the Church/my faith in Jesus, I've noticed that those two worlds and two communities don't always understand each other or get along well a lot of the time, and that breaks my heart. I don't believe it has to be that way or that God wants it to be that way.

So, in this episode, I share from Scripture and my experience three practical ways Christians can better love, value, support, and relate to artists and entertainers of all kinds who create art in what some in the Church would call the "secular entertainment" industry.

If you grew up in Church like I did, you know Christians listening to “secular music” (or engaging any type of secular entertainment) or being a secular artist/entertainer can be somewhat of a controversial topic. In this episode, we unpack a biblical perspective on “secular” or mainstream arts and entertainment–art and entertainment that is not overtly faith-based or clearly communicating a Christian message.

We’ll answer three questions about secular entertainment: Is it sinful? Is it edifying? Is it God-glorifying? These principles apply not just to music but to all forms of entertainment–shows, movies, books, video games, podcasts, etc.

Have you ever said or heard someone else say this: “I don’t want be a Christian because Christians are hypocrites.” It’s one of the primary misperceptions that discourages people from wanting to follow Jesus.
