  • Overcoming Addiction w/ Stephen Gage Brim

Our long time friend Stephen Gage Brim opens up and tells his story with alcohol addiction. He talks through the challenges of being honest with yourself, admitting you have a problem, and what led to him saying “enough is enough”. This title of this episode is a bit on the nose, since addiction never truly leaves. We are so proud of how far he has come, and also realize this could be any of our stories. It took courage and honesty to share this part of his life with us, let alone countless listeners. Stephen Gage Brim lives in New Orleans with his wife and tattoos all sorts of people for a living. Check him out at @gagebrimtattoos today!

  • Brian McLaren: Do I Stay Christian?

    Everything is OK People!

We return with another titan of our faith as a guest. Brian McLaren is a prolific author, speaker, and theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is a passionate advocate for "a new kind of Christianity" - just, generous, and working with people of all faiths for the common good. He is an Auburn Senior Fellow, a contributor to We Stand With Love, and a leader in the Convergence Network, through which he is developing an innovative training/mentoring program for pastors and church planters.

We read his newest book Do I Stay Christian and tackle some of the themes in both the “No" section and “Yes” section. Join us for this journey, and please buy his book today. We highly recommend it for people exploring their faith, puzzled at the link of American christianity and politics, and interested in a thorough examination fo both the beauty and harm in our faith.

We also laugh a little in the beginning of the episode, share Weird Christian Twitter, and get an update from Matt O’Mealey on martial arts training with his son.

Welcome back Everything is OK people!

Today’s episode as an incredible guest, Erin H. Moon! David stumbled upon Erin Moon’s work through The Bible Binge and The Popcast podcast streams. In fact, Erin’s interest in Second Temple Judaism and crazy books like Enoch made her a perfect target for our inquisitive minds.

We also talk to Matthew O’Mealey about the benefits of doing Taekwondo with his 7 year old — and how dominant he is in the class.

  • Deconstruction, Faith, Guns, and the Death Penalty - Shane Claiborne

This season is insane. After the Uvalde massacre we decided the time was now. We reached out to Shane Claiborne. The boys also discuss Brad’s new mustache, and the insanity of current events. Thank you Shane for hanging out and helping us understand what in the world is happening with this country.

Shane Claiborne is a prominent speaker, activist, and best-selling

author.  Shane worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, and founded The

Simple Way in Philadelphia.  He heads up Red Letter Christians, a movement

of folks who are committed to living “as if Jesus meant the things he said.”

Shane is a champion for grace which has led him to jail advocating for the

homeless, and to places like Iraq and Afghanistan to stand against war. Now

grace fuels his passion to end the death penalty and help stop gun violence.

Check out Shane’s newest book Beating Guns: Hope for People Who are Weary of Violence today!
