Pastor Mark Hogan teaches on Genesis 1:24–31 that humanity is the apex of creation, uniquely made in the triune God's image rather than through evolution, so human life is sacred and bears dignity, rationality, morality, and true knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, with dominion as a consequence of the image rather than its essence. He argues that the plural let us in Genesis 1:26 refers to the Trinity, rejects the angelic-council view, and treats image and likeness as synonymous, while the fall corrupted but did not erase that image (Genesis 9:6; James 3:9). Restoration comes only through Jesus Christ, the second Adam, as the Spirit renews believers into His image through sanctification (Ephesians 4; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 John 3:2), and the original dominion mandate is fulfilled in Christ and will be restored to believers in the new creation (Hebrews 2; Psalm 8; 1 Corinthians 15:49). The practical application is to trust Christ's imputed righteousness secured by His death and perfect law-keeping instead of moral self-improvement, pursue holiness by putting off the old man and using mind, body, and lips for God's worship, and rest in the forgiveness pictured at the Lord's Supper while seeking the Spirit's ongoing transformation from one degree of glory to another.
