    EWTN

On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: President Joe Biden met with farmers and ranchers virtually, announcing a plan for creating what the White House calls a more competitive, fair and resilient meat and poultry sector. He is casting the blame on major meat processing companies for the current high prices. Amber Athey, Washington Editor at the Spectator, joins to discuss whether President Biden is right about it being their fault and whether she thinks his plan to help bring down prices and help smaller farmers will work. Meanwhile, the Child Tax Credit has expired. Democrats say the money is vital for millions. And on New Year's Day, Pope Francis suggested we dedicate the new year to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He also noted that January 1st was the 55th annual World Peace Day, an initiative started by Pope St. Paul VI. Director of Development and Mission Advancement at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Fr. Benedict Croell, joins to share why Pope Paul VI started World Peace Day and what more Pope Francis said in his remarks on New Year's Day. Finally this evening, the president is asking the Supreme Court to uphold the federal vaccine mandate while former Vice President Mike Pence filed an amicus brief opposing it. The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments this Friday. President at the National Catholic Bioethics Center, Doctor Joseph Meaney, joins to share his thoughts on the mandate.
