On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: The US Commission on International Religious Freedom report states conditions in Afghanistan have worsened since President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw American troops out of the country, some 8 months ago. Meanwhile, President of the Center for Family and Human Rights, Austin Ruse, says leading feminists at the UN are pushing to exclude pro-life advocates from proceedings related to the UN commission on the status of women. Ruse has filed a complaint and shares whether he has gotten a response. Also today, jailed US Marine veteran Trevor Reed, who was behind bars in Russia, is coming home to the United States. And, Catholic Physician, Dr. Tom Catena, is the only surgeon for about 1 million people and works in a contested region between Sudan and South Sudan, in the Nuba mountains. He does missionary work as a medical director for the Mother of Mercy Hospital. He gives us a picture of what life is like there. Preparations are in the final stages for the World Meeting of Families in Rome. The meeting is from June 22nd to the 26th. EWTN Vatican Bureau Chief, Andreas Thonhauser, joins to tell us more about the World Meeting of Families. Finally this evening, we would like to take a moment to remember one of our EWTN coworkers who passed away suddenly over the weekend, Patrick Schmidt our Human Resources Manager. May he rest in peace.
