In week four of our series in Galatians, Pastor Andrew shows us how every good thing that is Jesus' is yours right now. And not because of anything that you have done.

So what do you need? Paul in Galatians 4 uses two analogies to help us to understand why we live in freedom and not law. He tells us again and again that you are not a slave you are a son. Listen and find out what that means for you today.

When you look at the world what do you see? How do you view your life and and God's love for you? In this talk Phil considers how the healing of the blind man from Bethsaida relates to spiritual insight. The ability to see the unseen comes from insight and that is found only in the person of Jesus. In Him we see things as they are not as they should be.

In week three of our Cornerstone series, Pastor Andrew shows us how our problem is not God, Jesus or the completed work of the cross, our problem is that we get in the way of believing that Jesus accomplished all that he said he did.

Paul reminds us in Galatians, that if we are not focused on Jesus - who he is and what he did, then we believe in another Gospel. If we have a gospel that adds to the finished work of the Gospel, then we believe that Jesus' work did not fully achieve what he set out to. How foolish!

Thank God that we don't need circumcision, or any type of work to add to the salvation and grace that Jesus offers freely to us. Jesus did not die to restrict us, but to set us fully free from every type of chain, restriction and bond!

Praise God that whoever the Son has set free, is free indeed!

This week, Pastor Andrew takes us into the second part of our series in Galatians on ego, and all the ways it can block our relationship with Jesus

 

What grace says about you is true - the law exists to condemn and it will show us our shortcomings. The grace of Jesus shows us that we are righteous in the sight of God.

 

Because of Jesus, we no longer need to try to earn our way - it has all been done for us!

 

Paul speaks about the ego as a condition of the heart, when we look at our own lives, when we put ourselves first, we can see how this plays out. It is crucial to know that whe we put ourselves first (instead of Jesus) we put ourselves back under slavery - but Christ has set us free!

 

Ego, alongside money, music, sports, TV, relationships and anything else that takes the place of Christ needs to be crucified in our lives, because in Jesus we are free!

In this new series, Pastor Andrew will be exploring the book of Galatians and the big theme of this book is that Jesus died to free us from bondage!What a message! And there is only this message! If we say nothing else, that Jesus has set us free from bondage is enough to change this world - free from temptation, depression, guilt, shame, sickness and every other type of bondage!We hope you enjoy this message - whoever the Son has set free is free indeed!

God wants us to build a deep relationship with Him, to get to know Him better and to develop deeper trust in Him. In the second part of this series Phil reminds us that trust is built on our understanding of God's character and that this is perfectly displayed in the person of Jesus. God loves us and everything He has for us is the best we can have. Be encouraged as you step out of your depth into a life abandoned to the One who is trustworthy.

In the first talk of this series Phil reminds us that our relationship with God is based on Jesus and is the starting point for a life of deeper trust and joy. God wants to have a deep relationship with each of us. He wants to make His home in you and for you to live for Him from a place of deeper intimacy.

Trying to earn what God has freely given will never work! If we try to earn it, our work will always come up short.

In this last part of the series, Andrew shows us how our attitude towards giving and speaking in tongues will affect our prayer life. Speaking in tongues is the gateway gift to all other spiritual gifts. This is a way that we can communicate with Jesus at any point in the day.

Be challenged as Andrew asks about our point in praying - do we think God has forgotten us? DO we think that we need to remind God about what we need?

When prayer is about us and what we are doing, the result will always be fruitless. But when prayer is about Jesus, we are released from condemnation and able to fully enjoy God's plan to totally restore, change and elevate us!

In the third of the series, Pastor Andrew explains to us how the Hebrew meaning of prayer involves an active exchange: we give our desires and receive the faith of God.

Pastor Andrew also notes from Matthew 6:6 how prayer should not be about us 'role-playing' with God. Be honest, how often have you done this in your own life? How often have we 'recited' the same type of prayer to God?

Beat the formula!

In week 2 of 'Teach us to Pray', Pastor Andrew looks at why we need to beat the formula of prayer - we turn relationship into a process - this other person has a formula tat works, so let's copy them! so we substitute relationship for form.

Prayer is a window into our heart - it reveals the different layers of what is going on in there: what we believe; what we think about Jesus, who he is and how we approach him.

Prayer is to remind us that whenever we try to work for God, He rests, but when we rest, He goes to work!

Jesus wants us to live in a way that is about Him, and him alone, it's all about what he has completed on the cross

Praise God, that he doesn't wait on us and our effort - it's all about what Jesus has already done!
