EXCLUSIVE: Shane Prior calls for DV Commissioner to address the 'runaway train' issue

Listen Later

Police resources are stretched with upwards of 100 unresourced calls for assistance on a daily basis with 70 to 80 percent of these calls being Domestic and Family Violence related.

Queensland Police Service Union President Shane Prior told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'The community needs to understand that this is no longer okay.'

'We need to invest in breaking the cycle of violence and we need to develop programs so we do break the cycle of violence.'

'We think elevating domestic and family violence through a commissioner who can coordinate all those social services in a bolstered sector will do a lot for the community.'
