Dr. Kyle E. Hultgren is the founding director of the Purdue University College of Pharmacy’s Center for Medication Safety Advancement and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice there. Dr. Hultgren is a co-author of a process improvement program in partnership with Purdue University and the VA that has been provided to over 10,000 professionals in health systems nationwide and is the creator of a novel tablet-based medication safety simulation education tool. Dr. Hultgren lectures nationally and internationally on safe medication use practices and leads many collaborative safety efforts worldwide. In 2013, he received the Indiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists highest honor, the "Glen Sperandio Hospital Pharmacist of the Year" Award.

Dr. Michael Brody, DPM, is Clinical Instructor and Staff Podiatrist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Northport, NY. He has also been in private practice since 1988. Dr. Brody has extensive background in healthcare IT, including serving on the New York E- Health Collaborative as well as Standards and Interoperability Framework for ONC, the EHR workgroup for HL7, among many other contributions in IT. For HIMSS he has worked with the Meaningful Use Center of Excellence and the Ambulatory Workgroup since 2011 and has served on the Physicians Committee since last year.

Dr. Lynn Witherspoon, M.D. who is the System Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer for the Ochsner Health System, based in New Orleans. Dr. Witherspoon has more than 40 years of experience as a physician, with a strong background in diagnostic imaging, as a nuclear medicine specialist.

Shelly Spiro, RPh, FASCP, an active in national pharmacy associations, standards development organizations (NCPDP, HL7 and X12) and a leader in Pharmacy health IT. She is an American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) past president. Spiro has authored several articles and is a national speaker on topics relating to various professional pharmacy, health systems and electronic prescribing.

Join Nicole Mohiuddin MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, director, informatics at Sugar Creek Solutions, to learn about CPHIMS. Mohiuddin has served as a staff nurse on a medical-surgical unit at a teaching hospital, as a director of clinical informatics, as a manager of strategic marketing for a medical devices corporation, and as a senior informatics consultant. She has designed, implemented and supported a variety of informatics projects, including electronic health records (EHR), computerized physician order entry (CPOE), bar-coded medication administration (BCMA) and smart infusion pumps. She serves as the Central Region - Director for ANIA (American Nursing Informatics Association) board, as well the Clinical & Nursing Informatics Member-at-Large for Greater Chicago HIMSS. Mohiuddin is ANCC board-certified in nursing informatics and has been an active member in HIMSS since 2000.

She currently serves on the CPHIMS Technical Committee.

Join Deanna Wise, PMP, executive vice president and chief information office at Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West in San Francisco. As executive vice president and CIO, Wise oversees all of Dignity Health’s information technology functions with a focus on the 40-hospital system’s electronic medical records. Deanna has been in the information technology field for 22 years with 16 of those in the health care industry. She has led the Information Technology due-diligence for numerous individual hospitals and hospital network acquisitions.

Her experience includes a deep understanding and vast experience on the development and maintenance of industry-leading clinical IT systems. Wise oversees the full implementation of Dignity Health’s new EHR software standard that will bring state-of-the-art electronic records to each of their facilities.

Wise is a member of the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Committee, which was founded in 2003 in response to the increased recognition of the role of the informatics nurse professional in healthcare information and management systems.

She is also a HIMSS Nurse Informatics e-Mentor.

Join Scott MacLean MBA, CHCIO, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, for his perspective on senior leadership, including insights on the career path he followed to become Deputy CIO and Director of IS Operations for Partners HealthCare in Boston, Mass. MacLean is Chair-Elect of the HIMSS Board of Directors; he takes office on July 1, 2013.

MacLean began his career at General Electric and has 20 years of experience in information technology. He also served as a campus chaplain in New York City, which has given him a unique perspective on human interaction and the implementation and application of technology.

At Partners, MacLean is responsible for the core technical infrastructure teams and administration of the Partners Information Systems Department. This includes the voice and data network, data centers, desktop support and Help Desk for many of the Partners Hospitals and affiliated ambulatory practices. He oversees the budget, space and HR needs of a 1,500- person department.

He is a Past President of the New England Chapter of HIMSS and has served on the HIMSS Ambulatory Steering and Foundation Scholarship Committees. He has been an item writer for the CPHIMS exam. MacLean was a charter member of the IHE-USA Board of Directors and served on an expert panel for the National Quality Forum. He serves on the HIMSS Analytics Board of Directors. Lynn Vogel, PhD, health IT consultant and former Chief Information Officer and Vice President of information services for academic medical centers in Chicago and New York City, provides his insights on how to navigate the advancement path and gain leadership skills.
