In this episode we read about God bringing water from the rock by having Moses strike it (this is a type of Jesus being crucified for us). We also read about the battle with the Amalekites (Amalek is a type of our fleshy human wants and desires). Finally in Chapter 18 we read about the wise counsel of Jethro, Moses Father-in-law. The lesson for us is to remember to not be so quick to dismiss other people’s counsel. Moses was humble enough to listen and learn.
