    Author: Shane Caldwell, Steve Boyle

    Narrator: Webb Wilder

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 02:01:01

    Language: English

    Release date: 09-10-21

    Publisher: Findaway Voices

Genres: Mystery, Thriller & Horror, Detective Stories

    Summary:

Webb Wilder, Last of the Full Grown Men has its quizzical storylines set in a Neo Noir city. The characters have a sense of humor along with tons of insider Pop Culture references. As a series, WWLOTFGM is faithful to the hard-boiled detective / Film Noir visions of the 1940s and 1950s but set in the Pop Culture world of today. Webb Wilder, as a detective, is a semi-urban hero dealing with characters who are bigger than life and twice as preposterous. Webb gets dragged, suckered, or voluntarily dives into situations that seem impossible at first, but logic and luck win out in the end. With all of this intrigue and dark images, Webb Wilder, Last of the Full Grown Men can also be very funny. Consider if Raymond Chandler had written Philip Marlowe for a hybrid of Andy Griffith, Stephen Colbert and Humphrey Bogart.

'The Doll' This tawdry tale of attempted assassinations, psychotic moms and a little doll torn in two, shows that no matter how full-grown Webb might be, he's still just a guy. Barbie's are not Webbs kind of plaything, as a fractured doll drives two mothers to the brink of killing each other's kids -- while the kids try to get married to each other. The final twists turn to the ultimate in greed during the last chapter.

    Summary:

Wills abrupt decision to leave his medical practice in Atlanta and take up a new job in Virginia Beach catches Laura by surprise. But moving back to their hometown was always going to be complicated since Will never told his family about their eight-year marriage. Still fresh in their minds is the stinging memory of Lauras disastrous first meeting with his parents, particularly his motherfor whom a white daughter-in-law is an anathema. As Will settles into the tedious routine of his new job, the simmering estrangement between him and Laura gradually deepens, until the day comes when he is involved in a near-fatal car accident. Laura is left reeling in the aftermath and forced to come face to face with her in-laws at the hospital, when complex medical decisions need to be made in the absence of clear-cut answers, and where strong opinions and poorly disguised animosities seem to have the upper hand. Weeks later, Will emerges from a coma, and upon discovering he is quadriplegic becomes uncharacteristically vicious towards Laura, sending their relationship into dark, unfamiliar territory. Amidst this rising turmoil, the ocean remains a source of serenity, with the rhythmic breaking of waves and joyous cries of seagulls serving as an abiding reminder that life is worth living even when we go astray and need help finding our way back home.

    Author: Marlowe Granados

    Narrator: Bronwyn Szabo

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 08:07:12

    Language: English

    Release date: 09-07-21

    Publisher: ECW Press

Genres: Fiction & Literature, Coming of Age

    Summary:

"A wild ride with a brilliantly cocky young protagonist who's got the world wrapped around her finger. So propulsive you'll feel like you've been hypnotized." - Zoe Whittall, author of The Best Kind of People

"Happy Hour feels like a breathless whisper at six in the morning when it's too hot to sleep. Marlowe Granados is a fresh, exciting new voice in fiction, and Happy Hour is a spellbinding début." - Amy Jones, author of We're All in This Together and Every Little Piece of Me

With the verve and bite of My Year of Rest and Relaxation and the whip-smart, wisecracking sensibility of a golden-age Hollywood heroine, Marlowe Granados's stunning début brilliantly captures a summer of striving in New York City.

Refreshing and wry in equal measure, Happy Hour is an intoxicating novel of youth well spent. Isa Epley is all of twenty-one years old and already wise enough to understand that the purpose of life is the pursuit of pleasure. She arrives in New York City for a summer of adventure with her best friend, one newly blond Gala Novak. They have little money, but that's hardly going to stop them from having a good time.

In her diary, Isa describes a sweltering summer in the glittering city. By day, the girls sell clothes in a market stall, pinching pennies for their Bed-Stuy sublet and bodega lunches. By night, they weave from Brooklyn to the Upper East Side to the Hamptons among a rotating cast of celebrities, artists, tech entrepreneurs, stuffy intellectuals, and bad-mannered grifters. Money runs ever tighter and the strain tests their friendship as they try to convert their social capital into something more lasting than precarious gigs as au pairs, nightclub hostesses, paid audience members, and aspiring foot-fetish models. Through it all, Isa's bold, beguiling voice captures the precise thrill of cultivating a life of glamour and intrigue as she juggles paying her dues with skipping out on the bill.

Happy Hour announces a dazzling new talent in Marlowe Granados, whose exquisite wit recalls Anita Loos's 1925 classic, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, updated to evoke a recent, golden period of hope and transformation - the summer of 2013. A cri de cur for party girls and anyone who has ever felt entitled to an adventure of their own, Happy Hour is an effervescent tonic for the ails of contemporary life.

    Summary:

The folks that bring you Marlboro - Philip Morris - are wheezing, slowly dying. Cigarettes are out of favour with everyone, from world governments and investors to, increasingly, smokers. So, what's their plan?

Prepare to be dazzled. Or, at the very least, befuddled.

Philip Morris has announced they will shut down as a cigarette company, and relaunch as a health enterprise, dedicated to convincing the one billion smokers of the world to quit.

The ever-curious John Safran leaves his apartment to find out what on God's green earth is going on. As he starts digging away he discovers a company up to brand new shenanigans, wangling their way into unexpected places, desperately trying to keep their tobacco business alive by brandishing a mysterious new doohickey called an IQOS.

And not only that, now they're upending language itself, changing the meaning of words. Will they slip past bans by convincing governments they don't sell 'cigarettes' but rather 'HeatSticks', and that these don't emit 'smoke' but 'aerosol'? Can John get the real story out of them without his life catching fire?

Wild, hilarious and thought-provoking, Puff Piece is a probing look into Big Tobacco and the vaping industry, and how words can be literally a matter of life and death.

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 15:32:18

    Language: English

    Release date: 08-31-21

Publisher: Penguin Random House Australia Audio

Genres: Non-Fiction, True Crime, Mystery, Thriller & Horror

    Summary:

In this definitive expose, Walkley-award winning journalist Debi Marshall turns her investigative blowtorch to the shocking Adelaide Family murders and to secrets long hidden in the City of Corpses.

This chilling account begins with the liberalisation of South Australia under the premiership of Don Dunstan and demands answers to decades-old questions. Who were the Family killers? Why are suppression orders still protecting suspects four decades later? Why do some of these serial killings remain unsolved? Only one suspect, Bevan Spencer Von Einem, has been charged and convicted.

With her combination of investigative skills and sensitivity, Marshall treads a harrowing path to find the truth, including confronting Von Einem in prison, pursuing sexual predators in Australia and overseas, taking a deep-dive into the murky world of paedophiles, challenging police and judiciary, and talking to victims and their families. The outcome is shocking and tragic.

Following broadcast of the Foxtel television and podcast series Debi Marshall Investigates Frozen Lies, numerous people came forward to courageously share new information with Marshall. Their stories are here. Banquet takes aim at the public service, wealthy professionals and the judiciary and for the first time reveals hitherto unpublished details of the Family. And it demands a Royal Commission to break the silence that keeps the truth hidden.
